Professional headshot cost: the price of one finished file

German studio price lists read in August 2026 put one finished, retouched file between €35 and nearly €200. US and UK prices will differ, but the calculation is the same: add the base price, extra files, retouching, and the required license.

The direct answer

How much should you budget?

Professional headshots cost €35 to nearly €200 for one finished, retouched digital file in the German studio price lists reviewed in August 2026. Across the six routes calculated below, three finished files cost €45 to €282.

The cheapest way to get a professional headshot is to take it yourself with a phone for €0 if you can manage the setup and editing. Assisted options start with a free AI photo with a watermark, two watermark-free AI images for €4.99, or one studio file for €35.

The arithmetic

A large contact sheet can still mean one file

Art Photo in Bochum offered about 40 shots in Classic and 100 to 150 in Premium. Both included exactly one digital file, regardless of the exposure count.

Bochum Classic starts at €89 and adds €15 to retouch the included file, producing €104. Three finished files add two files at €29 each and €15 retouching per image, producing €192. Light Hunters includes ten edited images, so three cost no more than one.

City check

Two more cities, same pattern

Düsseldorf base prices ran from €29 to €129 across four studios and eleven packages in 2026. Two-file packages started at €99 at Picturemakers and €119 for Christian Holthausen LARGE, with up to 100 shots in 60 minutes. Taking every LARGE shot cost another €99, bringing the total to €218.

Munich entry prices read on August 27, 2026 ranged from €49 to €79, while three-file totals reached €83 at Fotofabrik, €109 at Photogenika, €131 at blende11, and €195 at Paul Paulsen. The total gap was €112.

The cheapest package contains no file

Photo Side in Esslingen listed a €35.50 Standard package with four paper prints measuring 5 by 7 centimeters. It included no digital file, which cost another €20. A low session price is therefore useful only after you check what leaves the studio.

Usage rights

What the license lets you do

The photographer keeps the copyright, while the customer buys a license. Studio Monbijou in Berlin covers job applications but treats LinkedIn, XING, WhatsApp, Instagram, and self-promotion as extended rights.

Art Photo in Bochum includes use as a profile picture on social networks but excludes commercial use. Farbtonwerk in Berlin listed commercial use at €25 per image. Ask about the intended channel before booking because the package name alone does not settle the license.

One session, four choices

Four pictures from the same twenty minutes

Front-facing professional portrait with a serious expression

The serious option is frontal. Head and shoulders face the camera.

Professional portrait with a slight smile and the body gently turned

The second option adds a slight smile. The body turns slightly, while the head returns toward the camera.

Professional portrait with a broad smile

The third expression is a broad smile. The upper teeth show.

Professional portrait with a wider crop from the waist

The fourth image uses a waist-up crop. It comes from the same sequence.

These images were generated with our own tool and show no real person. They reproduce a Saarland studio's sequence of two postures, three expressions, and two crops. All four come from the same twenty minutes, but the package decides which file the customer keeps.

AI package prices

Compare the bundle, not the advertised price per image

In June 2026, Aragon AI cost about $35 for 20 pictures, BetterPic about $35 for 20, and Secta about $49 for 200 to 300. Each charges in US dollars. Free tiers usually provide a watermarked preview or first result.

Profilfoto KI uses one-off euro payments, has no subscription, and emails an invoice. Its first photo is free with a discreet watermark, and a result takes about two minutes. Per-image arithmetic matters only if you need the full bundle.
