Where that data is stored and who processes it decide which legal framework protects you. With us, your selfies are stored on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. The image generation itself runs through Google's Gemini API in the USA, covered by a data processing agreement and EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Both steps fall under the General Data Protection Regulation, which is not a promise we make but a law we are bound by: you can ask what we hold about you, and you can require us to delete it.

Why Americans should care
In many jurisdictions, especially within the United States, corporate terms of service often dictate how your uploaded photos can be used, sometimes granting platforms broad licenses to retain or analyze your images. The GDPR binds every company established in the EU, so its rules cover the data you give us regardless of where you live. It explicitly classifies facial images as sensitive biometric data when used to identify a person, enforcing rigorous safeguards that American laws often lack.
The Right to be Forgotten
Often referred to as the "right to be forgotten," Article 17 of the GDPR means you are not tied to a service for good. When you delete your account with us, your stored selfies and generated photos are removed immediately and irrecoverably. One thing does outlive your account, and it is fairer to say so than to leave it out: German tax law requires invoices and booking records to be kept for eight years and tax records for ten (§ 147 AO), so those remain. Nothing that shows your face does.

Where your photos go and who processes them
Secure Storage in Germany
Your uploaded selfies are stored in a private, access-protected storage environment provided by Supabase Inc. The physical servers are located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (AWS eu-central-1). There is no public access to your files. Our system only retrieves them through temporary, signed URLs that expire after one hour. Furthermore, data minimization is a core principle of the GDPR. We have implemented an automated daily deletion routine. Every uploaded selfie is automatically and permanently deleted after a maximum of 90 days, regardless of whether you are an active user or not. This deletion covers both the actual image file in the storage system and the corresponding entry in our database. Within the application, you can transparently see the exact expiration date for each individual selfie you upload.

The AI Generation Step
To generate your professional headshots, we use an automated workflow run by n8n GmbH, a company based in Berlin, Germany. The image generation itself is powered by the Google Gemini API from Google LLC in the USA, so this is the step where your selfies leave Frankfurt. The transfer runs under EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Our Data Processing Addendum with Google states that it uses the transmitted images only to provide the API service and not to improve its own products. No biometric profiles, facial recognition vectors or permanent personal traits are stored at our sub-processors.

Login, Payments, and Tracking
To provide you with a secure personal space for your headshots, a user account is required. When you register, we collect minimal data: your email address, technical metadata like the time of registration, and your gender selection. We ask for your gender solely to determine which set of example photos to display when you choose a style. This selection does not influence the AI generation process, as your final look is derived entirely from your uploaded selfies. It does not affect pricing or results, and you can change it at any time in your settings.
Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth, securely processed on their EU servers. Alternatively, you can use Google OAuth to log in. If you choose Google OAuth, Google only transmits your name and email address to us; we do not request or access any other profile data.
When you decide to purchase a premium package, your payment is processed directly by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., located in Ireland. We never see, touch, or store your credit card information or bank details. Our database only records a transaction reference ID and the payment status.
We also respect your browser. This website uses neither Google Analytics nor any other third-party analytics tool. Our own measurement counts page views, the referring address, the country, time on page and scroll depth without setting a cookie. To see which channel brought a new user, the referral details are held only in your browser's session storage, which is cleared when you close the tab, so there is no tracking across visits or other websites. If you create an account, that origin is saved once with it and deleted together with the account. The only cookies are the session cookies that keep you logged in.

Clear Pricing, No Subscriptions
Our pricing model is built on transparency. Unlike many international services that force you into recurring subscriptions or charge conversion fees for US Dollars, we operate exclusively with one-time payments in Euros. You purchase a specific credit package, use it to generate your photos, and that is the end of the transaction.
Common Questions About Privacy and Data
What happens to my uploaded photos?
Your selfies are stored on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. We use them for one purpose, which is generating your headshots, and for that step they are sent to the Google Gemini API. Nobody outside that process receives them, no advertising uses them, and the system deletes them automatically after 90 days at the latest.
Will my face be used to train global AI models?
The generation runs through the Google Gemini API under a Data Processing Addendum. Under that contract Google uses the transmitted images only to provide the service and not to improve its own products. We do not use your photos for anything other than your headshots.
How do I completely remove my data?
You can request deletion at any time, either in your account settings or by email to info@profilfoto-ki.de. Your selfies and generated photos are then removed immediately and cannot be restored, and the same happens when you delete your account. Invoices and accounting records are the exception, because German tax law requires us to keep them.
How much does it cost to try?
The first photo costs nothing. We generate your first professional photo for free so you can evaluate the quality based on your own face. You only pay if you decide you want more variations, and we never force you into a subscription.
