The GDPR AI Headshot Generator
A human face is biometric data. When you upload your personal selfies to an artificial intelligence service, you are handing over highly sensitive information. The physical location where this data is stored and processed fundamentally determines which legal framework protects you. Instead of uploading your photos to US servers governed by US law, you can generate your professional headshots using servers located in Frankfurt, Germany. That puts the images under the General Data Protection Regulation, which is not a promise we make but a law we are bound by: you can ask what we hold about you, and you can require us to delete it.
What is the GDPR and why does it matter?
The General Data Protection Regulation
The GDPR is widely considered one of the strictest and most comprehensive data privacy laws in the world. It shifts the power dynamic from corporations back to users. Under European law, you remain the absolute owner of your personal and biometric data. The regulation explicitly restricts what companies can do with your information, legally binding them to transparency, security, and data minimization.
- Right to Information (Article 15): You have the legal right to know exactly what personal data we process.
- Right to Deletion (Article 17): You can demand the complete and immediate erasure of your data at any time.
- Absolute Control: Your data is not merely hidden upon request; it is permanently destroyed.

Why Americans should care
In many jurisdictions, especially within the United States, corporate terms of service often dictate how your uploaded photos can be used, sometimes granting platforms broad licenses to retain or analyze your images. The GDPR applies strict federal-level protection, meaning your data belongs to you regardless of where you live. It explicitly classifies facial images as sensitive biometric data when used to identify a person, enforcing rigorous safeguards that American laws often lack.

The Right to be Forgotten
Often referred to as the "right to be forgotten," Article 17 of the GDPR guarantees that you are never permanently tied to a service. When you choose to delete your account with us, your data is wiped instantly and irrecoverably from our storage systems and databases. One thing does outlive your account, and it is fairer to say so than to leave it out: German tax law requires invoices and transaction records to be kept for ten years (§ 147 AO), so those remain. Nothing that shows your face does.
US Tools vs. GDPR Compliance

To help you make an informed decision, we present a fair comparison of how our service stands next to international alternatives. The pricing details for competitors are based on their official websites as of June 2026 and are listed in US Dollars, as these providers exclusively bill in USD.

Where your photos go and who processes them
Secure Storage in Germany
Your uploaded selfies are stored in a private, access-protected storage environment provided by Supabase Inc. The physical servers are located in Frankfurt am Main, Germany (AWS eu-central-1). There is absolutely no public access to your files. Our system only retrieves them using temporary, signed URLs that expire after exactly one hour. Furthermore, data minimization is a core principle of the GDPR. We have implemented an automated daily deletion routine. Every uploaded selfie is automatically and permanently deleted after a maximum of 90 days, regardless of whether you are an active user or not. This deletion covers both the actual image file in the storage system and the corresponding entry in our database. Within the application, you can transparently see the exact expiration date for each individual selfie you upload.
- Encrypted storage on Frankfurt servers.
- No public access to your files.
- Automatic deletion after 90 days maximum.
The AI Generation Step
To generate your professional headshots, we utilize an automated workflow coordinated by n8n GmbH, a company based in Berlin, Germany. The actual image generation is powered by the Google Gemini API (Google LLC). While Google is a US company, the data transfer occurs strictly under EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) and the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. Crucially, our Data Processing Addendum legally ensures that Google uses your transmitted data exclusively to provide the API service. They are prohibited from using your photos to improve their own products or train their global AI models. Furthermore, our sub-processors do not store any biometric profiles, facial recognition vectors, or permanent personal traits. The images only serve to train your temporary personal model for your headshots.
- Images are not used to train global AI products.
- No facial recognition vectors are stored.
- Fully protected by Standard Contractual Clauses.
Login, Payments, and Tracking
To provide you with a secure personal space for your headshots, a user account is required. When you register, we collect minimal data: your email address, technical metadata like the time of registration, and your gender selection. We ask for your gender solely to determine which set of example photos to display when you choose a style. This selection does not influence the AI generation process, as your final look is derived entirely from your uploaded selfies. It does not affect pricing or results, and you can change it at any time in your settings.
Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth, securely processed on their EU servers. Alternatively, you can use Google OAuth to log in. If you choose Google OAuth, Google only transmits your name and email address to us; we do not request or access any other profile data.
When you decide to purchase a premium package, your payment is processed directly by Stripe Payments Europe Ltd., located in Ireland. We never see, touch, or store your credit card information or bank details. Our database only records a transaction reference ID and the payment status.
We also respect your browser. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors interact with our website, but strictly on an opt-in basis. If you do not actively click "Accept" on our cookie banner, no tracking cookies are set on your device, and the analytics scripts are completely blocked from loading. To measure the success of our marketing campaigns, we use a first-party, cookie-free attribution method that analyzes referral parameters locally in your session storage. It is automatically cleared when you close the tab, ensuring no cross-site tracking occurs.
Three Steps to a Secure Headshot
Upload Selfies
You upload ordinary selfies taken from different angles, ideally in natural daylight. There is no need for professional equipment or a studio setting. These images are immediately encrypted and sent to our Frankfurt servers.
Choose Your Style
You select the professional environment that fits your needs, whether that is a formal corporate look for an executive resume, or a relaxed business-casual style for a modern LinkedIn profile.
Check the Result
We believe you shouldn't pay blindly. Your first generated photo is provided completely free of charge. Only if you are entirely satisfied with the result do you unlock additional variants via a one-time Euro payment.
Clear Pricing, No Subscriptions
Our pricing model is built on transparency. Unlike many international services that force you into recurring subscriptions or charge conversion fees for US Dollars, we operate exclusively with one-time payments in Euros. You purchase a specific credit package, use it to generate your photos, and that is the end of the transaction.
Common Questions About Privacy and Data
What happens to my uploaded photos?
Your selfies sit on servers in Frankfurt, Germany. We use them for exactly one purpose, which is training a temporary model that generates your headshots. Nobody outside that process receives them, no advertising uses them, and the system removes them automatically after 90 days.
Will my face be used to train global AI models?
No. The generation process utilizes the Google Gemini API under a strict Data Processing Addendum. This legal contract explicitly prohibits the AI provider from using your transmitted images to improve their own public products or train their foundational models.
How do I completely remove my data?
You are always in control. You can request the immediate deletion of all your stored data, selfies, and generated photos directly through your account settings, or by sending a simple email request to info@profilfoto-ki.de. Furthermore, if you delete your account, your data is wiped instantly and irrecoverably.
How much does it cost to try?
The initial trial costs nothing. We generate your first professional photo for free so you can evaluate the quality based on your own face. You only pay if you decide you want more variations, and we never force you into a subscription.
Who is the legally responsible entity?
The data controller responsible for your privacy is Profilfoto KI, owned by Safak Tepecik, located at Heidestraße 2, 58239 Schwerte, Germany. We operate under the jurisdiction of the German data protection authorities.
